The scientific name (structure) of L-Pyro glutamic acid is L-2-pyrrolidone-5-carboxylic acid. The optical rotation is [a]D=-11.50o. It is soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and glacial acetic acid. At 25 degree Celsius, solubility in water is more than 40 g.

Properties: it is colorless crystal with melting point 159-162 degree Celsius. It is soluble in water, alcohol, acetone and acetic acid. It is slightly soluble in ethyl acetate and insoluble in ether.
Main Specification: It mainly contents 98.5%-101.0%. Specific rotation is -10.50 degree to -12.30 degree. Chloride cl- is equal or less than 0.02%. Sulphate SO42 is equal or less than 0.02%. Heavy metal is equal or less than 10 ppm. Residue is equal or less than 0.2%. Loss on drying is equal or less than 0.5%. Iron is equal or less than 10ppm. PH value is 2.0 to 2.5.
Application: it has strong moisturizing function with strong skin permeability. As an additive with high nutritive and easily absorbed, it opsonizes skin and effects as moisturizer.
