Description of LSR Liquid Silicone Rubber

Platinum-Cure Silicone Rubber
Platinum cure silicones, also called addition cure silicones, are two-component high tear strength, flexible mold compounds. They are recommended as a mold material for casting polyurethane, epoxy, and polyester resins, wax and a wide range of other casting materials. They exhibit extremely low shrinkage and high physical properties. These rubbers are chemically sensitive to latex, sulfur, and certain other materials. Platinum cure silicones can also be used to cast prosthetics for special effects makeup and medical purposes.

MC RTV1040 silicone rubber is a two component elastomeric cross-linking at room temperature. The polymerization can be accelerated by heat (max.1500 C). The silicone components are delivered as liquids, which once mixed and cured transform into a transparent, elastic and resistant material. Polymerization occurs without formation of heat.

Advantages of LSR Liquid Silicone Rubber

1. Easy Curing: MC silicone RTV1040 polymerizes at room temperature (23C).The curing characteristics is independent of part thickness.
2. High Transparency
3. High tear and tensile strength
4. Long shelf life with low shrinkage
5. Fast mixing (10:1) and easy processing due to the low viscosity

Applications of LSR Liquid Silicone Rubber

Label manufacturing, Molding applications requiring low shrinkage, such as toys, jewelers, automotive, rapid prototyping etc.
