Diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC)Diesel oxidation catalystDOCA diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) is a flow through device that consists of a canister containing a honeycomb substrate. The substrate has a large surface area that is coated precious metal, such as palladium or platinum. As the exhaust gases traverse the catalyst, carbon monoxide(CO),gaseous hydrocarbons and liquid hydrocarbon particles are oxidized, thereby reducing harmful emissions.
The diesel oxidation catalyst can remove to 90% carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. It can also reduce diesel particulate matter by to 30%.
It is an extremely cost effective, reliable and flexible for reducing diesel exhaust emissions. Because of the relatively small size of the oxidation catalyst, the complete exhaust system is a usually direct replacement for the original which simplifies design and fitment, lowest cost.
The diesel oxidation catalyst work principle:
CO + ½O2→ CO2
[HC] + O2 → CO2 + H2O
