It is of great significance to improve the strength and service life of shaft parts by selecting reasonable materials and stipulating the technical requirements of heat treatment. At the same time, it has great influence on the processing process of shaft.

General shaft parts commonly used 45 steel, according to different working conditions using different heat treatment specifications (such as normalizing, tempering, quenching, etc.), in order to obtain a certain strength, toughness and wear resistance.

For medium precision and high speed shaft parts, 40Cr and other alloy steel can be selected. After tempering and tempering and surface quenching, this kind of steel has higher comprehensive mechanical component energy. The shaft with higher precision is sometimes made of bearing steel GCrls and spring steel 65Mn, which have higher wear resistance and fatigue resistance after quenching and tempering.

For the shaft working under high speed and heavy load conditions, 20CrMnTi, 20MnZb, 20Cr and other low carbon gold-bearing steel or 38CrMoAIA nitride steel can be selected. After carburizing and quenching, low carbon alloy steel has high surface hardness, impact toughness and core strength, but little deformation during heat treatment.

Shaft parts of the blank is the most commonly used round bar and forgings, only some large, complex structure of the shaft to use castings.
